Mason is a small,
quiet town nestled in the heart of the hill country. A walking historical tour of the lovely town square area can be accomplished
easily in an afternoon. There are a variety of local shops offering antiques, arts, gifts, and wonderful food.
Mason
is also home to Fort Mason, established in 1851 when Comanche inhabited the area and co-existence and peace with new settlers
was a priority. Robert E. Lee was stationed at Ft. Mason just prior to the Civil War.
Mason was the lifelong
home to Fred Gipson, author of “Old Yeller’. A statue immortalizing Old Yeller can be seen in front of the library.
The town continues to be a magnet for a variety of artists and artistic pursuits.
Many opportunities for relaxation
and enjoyment exist in and within a short drive of Mason. But most of all enjoy the peaceful and quaint allure of this marvelous
community and it’s citizens.
